LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT ISSUES SEVEN DAYS ULTIMATUM TO GATED COMMUNITIES

The Lagos state government has issued a seven day ultimatum to communities and areas with gated streets to remove such or face severe sanctions.

State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, MUSLIM FOLAMI read this riot act yesterday at a news briefing in Alausa.

He vowed that there will be no preferential treatment in the exercise adding such gates constitutes major barriers to free flow of traffic as well as response to emergencies by fire service and the police.

FOLAMI noted that such private security measures by residents could be well intended but the consequences on the citizenry poses questions difficult to answer.
