AUSTRALIAN OPEN: Former Champion Wawrinka Crashes out

Former Australian Open champion, Stanislas Wawrinka has crashed out of this year’s tournament following a 6-4 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-3 loss to big-serving Canadian, Milos Raonic.

Raonic had looked on course for an easy win when he raced through the first two sets, but 2014 champion, Wawrinka hit back to take the next two and force a decider.

Raonic however, would not be denied- as the Canadian raised his game once again to close out the victory and seal his spot in the quarter finals.

Next up for Raonic is flambouyant Frenchman, Gael Monfils, who was a four-set victor over Russian, Andrey Kuznetsov.

In the women’s draw, two-time former winner, Victoria Azarenka continued her comfortable progress through the tournament as she defeated Czech, Barbora Strycova 6-2 6-4 to set up a quarter final meeting with Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
