PREVIEW – Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Arsenal host Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at the Emirates stadium in arguably the biggest rival clash in the Premier League.

Team News ;

Arsenal expect to have both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil fit to face the champions. Mohamed Elneny is still awaiting his Arsenal debut, while fellow midfielder Francis Coquelin is back in training following a knee problem.

The visitors, meanwhile, are set to have playmaker Eden Hazard available after he missed out the last three matches with a groin injury. Diego Costa should be also available after taking part in limited training sessions due to his bruised shin.

Team Standings ;

Arsenal have won seven and lost none of their last nine Premier League games at the Emirates, conceding just four goals in that run.

Chelsea are on the longest current unbeaten run in the Premier League with 2 wins and 4draws under caretaker manager Guus Hiddink as they hope to get a win that can spur them to a good run in the league.

Past record ;

The Gunners have not scored against Chelsea in the last eight hours and two minutes of Premier League football. If the Gunners fail to score against Chelsea it will equal their longest run without a goal versus any opponent in Premier League history.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games against the Gunners since Arsenal won 5-3 in October 2011 with three of the last four Premier League meetings between these two sides at the Emirates have ended as goalless draws.

Hiddink was also responsible for Arsenal’s biggest home defeat against Chelsea as the Blues recorded a 4-1 victory over Arsenal in 2009.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Diego Costa ; The Spaniard has scored five goals in five Chelsea appearances in all competitions under Hiddink, after netting four in 21 appearances in 2015-16 before his arrival.

Olivier Giroud ; The Frenchman will be looking to continue his fine run of form in front of goal. The striker has scored nine goals in his last 10 games, including two at Anfield, and the winner against Manchester City. Chelsea remain the only top team in the premier league he has failed to score against.
