CHRISTINE LAGARDE has today announced that she will run for a second term at the head of the International Monetary Fund, after winning strong backing from across Europe.
In a interview with FRANCE 2 Television, Miss LAGARDE, a former French Finance Minister said “yes I am running for a second mandate”, end of quote.
With her term coming to an end in July, the IMF formally began accepting nominations on Thursday for who will guide the global crisis leader for the next five years.
LAGARDE’s endorsement came from Germany, France, Britain and The Netherlands.
The United States had not given its formal backing to her re-election bid.
