In the ancient town of Ibadan the traditional ruler there, the Olubadan, Oba SAMUEL ODULANA ODUGADE the first has died.
The Olubadan was one hundred and one years old; he would have been one hundred and two in April.
Reports from the Royal palace in Ibadan say the Olubadan lost consciousness before eventually passing away late last night.
Details regarding the cause of the Monarch’s death were sketchy, but family sources say the Olubadan had been indisposed for some time now as a result of old age.
ODULANA mounted the Ibadan throne in two thousand and seven as the thirty-ninth Olubadan.
The Oyo state government has not officially reacted to the death of the Olubadan but is expected to declare a period of mourning in honour of the departed Monarch.
