Stalemate in second friendly for CHAN Eagles.

Nigeria’s home-based Eagles and Angola settled for a 1-1 draw in their friendly match which went down at the Tuks University Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, yesterday.

The Angolans were a sterner test in comparison to the AmaTuks – the Eagles  After holding out each other for the better part of the game, Nigeria finally took the lead in the 84th minute when Ibrahim Attah Salau was upended in the Angolan box, with midfielder Bartholomew Ibenegbu making no mistake from the spot.

While many thought the Super Eagles B team would smile away with the slim win, it turned out not to be as Angola equalized from a corner kick with only two minutes left in the game.

Angola finished as runner-up at the second African Nations Championship in Sudan five years ago, while Nigeria finished in third place at the 3rd edition in South Africa in 2014.

Next stop for the Eagles is a friendly with Cote d’Ivoire still in Pretoria at the Tuks University Stadium.

After the last test match, the Super Eagles B delegation will fly into Rwanda on January 15, three days before the team trade tackles with neighbours-to-the-north, Niger Republic, in their first match of the tournament, at the astro-turf Stade Regional Nyamirambo on the outskirts of Kigali.
