Retired Brigadier General in the Army, JAFARU ISA has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
ISA, a former governor and one-time governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC in Kano state was arrested in the early hours of Thursday at his residence in Asokoro area of Abuja.
ISA is the first chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC to be arrested by the EFCC since the beginning of investigations into the alleged diversion of two point one billion dollars meant for arms purchase by officials of the immediate past administration.
The arrested APC member is a close friend of the embattled former National Security Adviser, SAMBO DASUKI.
He is also a close political associate of Mr. President.
The spokesman of the EFCC, WILSON UWUJAREN could not be reached for comments on the arrest but a top official of the commission confirmed the development.
Investigators believe the retired soldier received over one hundred million naira from DASUKI.
