Minister bemoans state of facilities, promises Eaglets their reward

The Minister of  Sports, Solomon Dalung yesterday inspected Sports Facilities in Lagos in the company of the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Alhassan Yakmut, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Christian Ohaa, the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, directors, deputy directors.

He was saddened by the sad state of the structures on ground but, however affirmed that as soon as he was back at his desk, and after due consultation with relevant officers, decisions affecting the facilities would be taken in no time.

Dalung also called on corporate Nigeria to intervene in the development of sports in the country as government alone cannot develop sports.

However, he was aware of the lack of confidence among corporate bodies investing in sports but assured them of stable co-operation to ensure that the perception is changed and subsequently, success is recorded.

In addition, the Minister stated that the 1985 and 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets squads and other teams and athletes that made Nigeria proud in 2015 will be honored in the third week of January albeit at an unspecified date.
