Real Madrid suffered a setback in their hunt for the Spanish La Liga when they drew 2-2 at Valencia on Sunday night.
Real took the lead when Karim Benzema finished off a great move involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, but Dani Parejo equalised from the penalty spot after Madrid defender, Pepe had fouled Andre Gomes.
The visitors were reduced to ten men as Matteo Kovacic received his marching orders for a lunging tackle, but they looked set for a win when Bale headed home inside the final ten minutes.
Valencia manager, Gary Neville was however rewarded for his attacking intent when Paco Alcacer headed in from close range almost immediately- and they could have won it late on but Alvaro Negredo shot straight at the goalkeeper from a very good position.
Valencia have now drawn three of their four league matches under Neville, but this was by far the best result under their English manager.
His opposite number, Rafael Benitez though endured more criticism from the Real fans, whose side slipped four points behind table-toppers and local rivals Atletico Madrid, and two behind reigning champions, Barcelona, who have a game in hand.
