The Dream Team VI arrived Lagos in the early hours of yesterday and were expected in Abuja but fans left the airport in Abuja disappointed after realizing that the team was disbanded in Lagos.
The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has revealed that the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations Champion will be received officially in Abuja at a latter date.
The President said the team was not received in Abuja like the Golden Eaglets because there were no plans to host them on arrival, due to the busy schedule of the federation such as the NFF AGM on Thursday in Abuja and the home based Eagles camping in Abuja ahead of the CHAN Tournament in Rwanda.
Meanwhile, the team coach Samson Siasia has opened up saying his team did not deserve to win the crown owing to the poor preparations.
In the same vein, he has stressed the need for his team and the Nigeria Football Federation to tidy arrangements, if his boys are expected to do well at the 2016 Olympics billed for Rio.
Additionally, Nigeria’s skipper Azubuike Okechukwu has been named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while fellow teammate Oghenekaro Etebo was the tournament’s record goalscorer with five goals of the nine Nigeria scored.
