Arsenal, Chelsea face old foes in Champions league last 16

The draw for the 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League Round-of-16 took place in Nyon, Switzerland with the 16 qualified teams eagerly awaiting their fate.

The eight group winners were pooled into Pot A while their respective runners-up were pooled into Pot B. Teams that faced each other in the group phase were not going to face each other in this round, as well as clubs from the same country.

Zenit St-Petersburg and Dynamo Kiev were not going to be drawn against each other due to political tensions involving Russia and Ukraine.

The draw was made and some prominent fixtures came up with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal facing familiar foes in defending Champions, Barcelona. Chelsea take on Paris St-Germain for the second time in a row with the latter responsible for Jose Mourinho’s charges’ exit in the quarter-finals last season.

The Citizens were handed a favourable draw with Dynamo Kiev while German Champions Bayern Munich are in what is arguably the toughest draw of the round as they square up against last season’s runners-up, Juventus.

Ten-time winners Real Madrid face another daunting task in AS Roma. Real were eliminated at the semi-final stage last season by Juventus – another Italian team.

KAA Gent (Belgium) v Wolfsburg (Germany)

AS Roma (Italy) v Real Madrid (Spain)

Paris St-Germain (France) v Chelsea (England)

Arsenal (England) v Barcelona (Spain)

Juventus (Italy) v Bayern Munich (Germany)

PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) v Atletico Madrid (Spain)

Benfica (Portugal) v Zenit St-Petersburg (Russia)

Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine) v Manchester City (England)

First leg ties will be played on 16-17 and 23-24 February with the return leg to be played on 8-9 and 15-16 March, 2016.
