Nigeria’s national Under-23 team, Dream Team VI, will play against host nation Senegal in the first semi-final of the Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations on Wednesday for a direct slot at the football event of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The Dream Team advanced from Group B with 5 points behind Algeria, who face South Africa in the day’s second semi-final.
Nigeria will be missing the services of captain Azubuike who is suspended after picking up his second booking of the tournament in their 0-0 draw with Algeria, and will also be without Stanley Dimgba who injured his ankle and has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the crunch clash with the host nation who are perfect in the competition with three wins from three, coach of the Dream Team Samson Siasia stated that his team’s defensive worries, which saw them concede 2 goals in the second half of their first two games against Mali and Egypt, have been solved.
Kickoff for the Senegal-Nigeria game is 4pm Nigerian time.
