SANDRA Bullock has adopted a three-year-old girl named Laila who she had been fostering, introducing her new daughter in a magazine spread.
Bullock, 51, is already a mother to Louis, five.
The Oscar winner introduced the girl to the world through People magazine.
She said her main aim is to try and protect the little girl’s privacy.
“You feel it’s very much like witness protection,” she said. “Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances — and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job.”
Bullock said she was scared that the media interest in her life might prevent her from adopting the little girl, who comes from Louisiana — the same US state as her adopted son.
“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” Bullock said. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”
She said that she started the process of adopting the girl three years ago.
“I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,” she said. “[She has] pink and glitter in the house mixed with Legos and Batmans.
“My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding. That’s a family,” she said.
Bullock has started dating Bryan Randall, 49. It is her first boyfriend since her five-year-marriage to Jesse James ended in 2010 because he cheated on Bullock with a stripper.
